re: I've had TexMex in TX numerous times......never in CA. I think TexMex has more starch to it than CA Mex. That's why I prefer CA Mex. And if Taro is right about the jalopeños, its another reason for my choice. I think its what you experience first........in LA, guys from TX were always pining for TexMex.

In truth, MexMex is fairly different from CA Mex and TexMex. In fact, CA Mex and TexMex are derivatives of what poor Mexicans eat.
