Interesting... I worked one summer in a cotton mill. There's not many of those left anymore. I had a grandmother that was a weaver for years kind of like the movie "Norma Rae." The looms in the old weave shops were deafening and there were just row upon row of looms. Almost all the weavers were women and each of them had 20 or more machines to keep going. My grandmother told a story of this one lady weaver with long hair. She was running around doing her job when her long hair got caught up in the cloth takeup reel. So here she is getting cranked in like a fish, can't reach the kill switch, and screaming bloody murder in this factory you couldn't hear anything. Lucky for her, a loom fixer, ran when saw she was in trouble and shut the loom down, but he had to cut her loose with his pocketknife. My grandmother said the woman kept her hair pinned up after...
