Exactly. And that 1.308 billion figure is the official number. No one knows what the real number is since there are millions who are out of the Family Planning uncounted<g>.

I read some reports that are worried about China will enter an old age society soon. But they should not be too worried. The TFR of China now is at 1.8. That means on average, each Chinese family has close to 2 children, even if the gov. practices one-child policy<g>. And some professionals estimate the real TFR of China may be as high as 2.2.

And keep in mind, this is achieved with the relatively strict one-child policy. Now imaging, in case the gov. let the family planning policy go, how fast the Chinese population would explore?

As a matter of fact, one-child policy is only effectively practiced in cities. In countryside, most of farmer's families have 3 - 4 children.
