The real truth of the matter, J, is that our population numbers have been decreasing since 1970, which was at zero-growth. Our workforce is 96%+ employed, assuming the unemployment figures are correct. It's one of the major reasons Rumsfeld is changing the entire military equation.... we will have more drones used for warfare and fewer people. The old style military Generals wanted their own fifedom, and usually had it. Note the very ones who were passed over in the new military are the very ones who are so verbose and publicly angry today. These people could be doing something constructive for America, but no, most of them are too arrogant to do that. One other thing to consider....if in fact we do need to send more military over to Iraq....there may be another reason for that. Check out the other countries surrounding Iraq.

France rioting again. Live on cnn and fox. At least there is passion there. I am thinking back to my 60s days and thinking we are all a bunch of materialists without much conviction about anything. We all spout a good game over here but when was the last strike here for whatever the reason? When is it not business as usual? Viva la france even though vacationers better cross them off their list for this summer.
