The US has one of the lowest inspection rate for Mad Caw disease! There is huge cover up on USDA part, simply because beef industry is multi-billion $ business here. Even Japan still not allow the US beef for import now if I remember correctly. I hope Chinese gov. will not give in although I don't hold my breath. The Chinese gov. now is way too soft to the US aggressiveness! I think Hu should NOT come now, period! I am beef free now. I only eat pork, chicken and sea food It is estimated that anywhere bet. 2-8% of the people dead of Parkinson's disease here in the US suffered from Mad Caw disease. I believe it since the symptom is very similar. It would be very hard to tell unless go to some special lab for the test which no one has done. As for the US$ lost 50% of purchasing power in the last 20 years, I don't buy it. What about RMB? It lost 300% of its buying power<g> (in late 1980s, 2 Yuan = 1 US$) It all depends on how do you measure it. As for increasing the storage of hard metals, that is true. Japanese now is doing just that. They put a lot those imports, including coals, by their Continental shelf. And I think China should definitely restrict exporting rare earth and most of hard metals. I think as of now only Gold is not allowed. I cannot see any other country in the world doing what China has been doing for the last 30 years. It is so darn stupid! They do not only allow the export, they even give tax rebate. Those things, once they are gone, they are gone! And then they have to pay much higher price to import from abroad again.
