Let me give you a little advice I give all my clients about building up assets. If you can figure out a legal way to only pay taxes on what you need to live on and invest the rest so that it builds up tax deferred, some day, you too, will be rich. We can easily live here on 35k a year after tax and I live in paradise, it is a modest paradise but paradise none-the-less. But I can imagine that would be hard for someone who chooses to live in Los Angeles to understand. One of my favorite quotes from a local discount men's wear store: "There is no status in overpaying."
