Just try going to dig out an ounce of gold out of the ground by hand. I don't get it - why did my ancestors in scotland dig potatoes out of the ground and get all smelly and dirty when they could have dug shiny metal instead - what did those fools not understand that I still dont understand? Gold has no inherint value. Maybe one day it will be found to be a major component for medical science or some new energy source - then it will have inherint value. The world needs a medium of exchange. Ok, seems in times past, consumable commodity was the base for exchange - oil serves this purpose today no?
