Of course. But what does history indicate to us would have been the appropriate resolution?

What we did after WWII was far wiser. There is no need to threaten consequences if people have no motivation to drift towards danger. After 1929 things would have been economically difficult, by why wait a decade before starting?

You are correct, that hindsight makes all clear, and what faces us now is always different in some way. Thats life.
