I know for a fact that I'm correct. Before he became President, a number of Reagan's contributors provided him with a ranch. These contributors included Leonard Firestone who died in 1997. There were many additional upgrades which contributors provided to the ranch.

The property was partially an outright gift, and partially interest-free loans, part of the balances of each loan was "forgiven" each year by each contributor during consecutive years. This was designed to minimize the tax implications of the money transfer to the Reagans.

I think you will find a number of areas of Reagan's life, particularly his financial life, is vague without much publicly available information.
