Actually, FWIW, women could vote in New Jersey from 1776 until 1807, when the right was revoked.

Yipes! I agree with every comment you made in that post. Please notice there was no encouragement to use the military to accomplish change in it.

The US Constitutional evolution has been helped a lot by our being multi-cultural: No single dominant religious body, or ethnic group. Also, the change came from within, not from outside, although for certain segments of the populace that was not true.

I agree that international pressure from the press and diplomatically is helpful, as in Nigeria. But again, Nigera is nicely multi-cultural as well, and plenty of Nigerians don't want Islamic law either. It helps to have that situation.
