Isn't it prophetic that on Apple's 30th anniversary they are giving in to today's big brother? Hmmm.

I think I would term this as recognising reality.

I think Jobs can be stubborn to a fault, so I have to give him kudos for this move. Am I missing the downside to this announcement?

Ah, but who is who?

(some may find the following gross, but others might find the image illustrates Apple's move...)

OrionX -

They are doing nothing of the kind. Here's what they say they are doing:

"We think Boot Camp makes the Mac even more appealing to Windows users considering making the switch," Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of worldwide product marketing, said in the statement.

To me, this action looks like exactly what they say it is. They're trying to attract more switchers.

It's interesting that they didn't announce Boot Camp on April 1. Either someone was thinking or they just got lucky, but if it had come out then, it definitely would have caused confusion. Boot Camp and running Windows is such a misunderstood animal and the name just adds to the possibility that it's a joke, so it's good they waited a few days.
