You are looking from how scary it would be if SUVs weren't running on time. Imagine how much worse it would be for them if they couldn't sell their oil at all due to, for example, a blockade by the USA.

Come on Maurice... We blockaded Iraq for 13 years and Saddam managed to cling to power...

Iran has plenty of opportunity to smuggle out oil. If not that, I'm sure they'll set up some "oil for food" program where they can corrupt the UN management.

But it's sure that economic sanctions will be first. However, the US has had economic sanctions against Iran for decades, to no effect.

I fear it will require more direct action, including the possibility of encouraging a bit of insurgency of our own.

But they're internal security is more brutal than ours.. And they don't have restrictions against physical interrogations and torture.
