The way to prevent the Dems from stealing an organization like that is to set up rules that make change of leadership difficult. You create an inbred organization that allows board members to appoint new board members. You make all changes in rules originate and end with the board. The board appoints officers, etc. When the hijackers arrive and discover the deck stacked against them, they will tire of the fight. The problem you face with underrepresentation is the problem our country is moving towards. Once the majority of the people are beneficiaries of government largess rather than taxpayers, they will vote themselves ever more largess at your expense. The only solution is voting with one's feet.
