Liar. Kerry told the truth in 1971. Totally. The Vietnam War was full of atrocities. Kerry's own missions involved atrocities, though that was not his fault, it was orders, and the fault of one part-time gunner of his who opened fire on civilians against Kerry's wishes. That gunner is the only smearvet to have ever served with Kerry, a man named Gardner who Rush Limbaugh recruited to lie about Kerry. Gardner was angry because Kerry wanted him court-martialed for murdered civilians. But Kerry never did anything about it. There was too much murder going on everywhere. It was the White House and Pentagon which were to blame, not the grunts in the field.

Quit smearing our honest war hero leaders. Every vet Kerry represented in 1971 was a real vet. A single one of them, one out of hundreds, exaggerated his combat credentials. But that had nothing to do with Kerry. Just another smear by those trying to cover up how stupid, wrong, dishonest and self-defeating the Vietnam War was.

On the other hand, Bush-Cheney-Delay all dodged the draft despite supporting that horrid war. Bush totally exaggerated and lied when he wrote in his autobiography that he flew fighter jets and was ready to serve in Vietnam. Not true. He never flew anything as a solo pilot, not even a Cessna. He was grounded, quit training and flunked out. Then went AWOl and lied about it. His daddy got him off so he could go to Harvard.

You obviously don't understand what Vetnam Veterans Against the War meetings and conferences were like. Back then I did counseling for both active duty soldiers and veterans. What Kerry described was what was being described at the time. Had you been to one or more of them, you'd feel differently.

Do you seriously think think Vietnam was a pristine and perfect war, and that Americans could do no wrong? By the way, just to give you an indication of how bad things were, when did the US military even begin drug counseling!?! The lack of sensitivity back then was rampant. Were you around back then I'd think you do everything possible to make sure what happened then doesn't happen again. Problem is, thanks to Bush-Cheney, et. al., yourself included perhaps? ... it already has!

The Vietnam atrocities Kerry described were very real. Remember the My Lai massacre and all the photos? And that was not an isolated event.

Kerry says he regrets some of the more colorful descriptions, but there is no denying that the CIA's Phoenix Program alone accounted for thousands of terrorizing assassinations, using extreme methods like be-heading, as well as torture. Kerry was likely a boat ferry captain for Phnoenix. That's why he went into Cambodia 3-4 times. The reason be-heading was used was because superstitious Buddhists believe you can get to Nirvana without a head.

By the late 60's that's how nuts that war was. We had turned into monsters, as bad as anything on the enemy side, and we were fighting on for no good reason against an enemy we didn't understand and it had almost nothing to do with US national security.

Like Kerry told me, it was like APOCALYPOSE NOW without the surfboards. It was madness.
