Beyond beyond.

AMD is already producing 65nm chips. Fab 36 was equipped for 65nm. They have just made srams on 45nm and they aren't sure whether they will use immersion or not means it is years away from production. 65nm will start production ramping in a couple months. AMD will need the capacity gains from going to 65nm next year.

Forget left field, this one is coming from the far side of the parking lot. Maybe even from the bridge over the stream. You know where the trolls live.

As ecomaniac says, AMD has onlt just made 45nM srams, and from that, which is basicaly to see if the the process works, to production has traditionally taken about 2 years. AMD has said 65 nM will be out in 2H06. if it's only a few months away, they should have a reasonable idea how it's going by now. Although, slip ups do occur (Thoroughbred ).
