But Reagan had his star wars ideas- I seem to recall he was putting some serious money into the military, rather than actually saving any- but I'd have to look at the numbers, since I am not able to remember figures exactly.

yes, it appears I remember correctly- I hadn't realized just how much he had increased military spending- wow -

That meant the increase of tens of thousands of troops, more weapons and equipment, not to mention a beefed-up intelligence program."

Not exactly what I'd call a cut in defense...
