A client of mine has a French friend who has lived here for years operating an export company. The guy makes an enormous amount of money and we've always suspected that a large portion of that wasn't exactly on the up and up. He used off shore corporations to avoid both the US and French tax code. All was fine until he went through an ugly divorce from his American wife. Yesterday, my client tells me the guy is stopping off at the studio on his way back to France (he has to leave the US because he has lost his right to live and work here) to drop off his considerable collection of very expensive photo gear. I asked my client if he really wanted to get involved with helping the guy hide assets (either from his wife or the IRS, who knows).
