I know you're trolling, again, Don, but still, I'll answer you, again...

I use Windows "for old software unavailable in Mac land except in OS9, yet essential for downloading images from my favorite old digital camera. Also, helps to have both PC and Mac machines on hand when creating web pages, in order to see what they look like on both platforms."

I need MS project specific version about once a week for one of my projects. If I carry a mac I have to carry a wintel box specifically for this ONE program which I download from their site and upload, thats all I do.

Don -

Nonsense. It has long been acknowledged, here and elswhere, that there were some specialized Windows apps for which there is no Mac equivalent.

FYI, when I first made the jump to the Mac, one of my first software purchases was Virtual PC. I used it in the beginning because there wasn't a good Office suite for the Mac OS yet, and there were sitll some web sites that Safari didn't work with.

Over the years, I have used it less and less. Lately, the only thing I've used it for is online poker.

Don, let's face it, Mac users have Alien-ware envy.

Don,

It seems for years I have been hearing here, how anything you could ever want to run on a Win/PC can already run on a Mac using a similar Mac based program?

Actually that is an almost entirely true statement. Almost all Windows software have Mac equivalents. Unfortunately, the Mac stuff doesn't fit into the Microsoft enterprise that MS has sold to most businesses. That's why I've harped on the need for Apple to fit into the enterprise model, while you were hung-up on getting Macs into education. I do agree that Macs need to be in education, big time. But I also believe the largest plum is enterprise. Because parents have been buying their children the computer that they have to use at work.

If a Mac can run Windows, it can fit into MS's version of enterprise. Personally, I'd like a completely open source enterprise. China and India will probably push for that while using Linux. But the Mac provides the best interface to that kind of environment, and would be preferred those who cared.

Why would any Intel Mac users want to use WinXP.

It seems for years I have been hearing here, how anything you could ever want to run on a Win/PC can already run on a Mac using a similar Mac based program?

That was me, Don.

I see no reason for Windows on a personal computer. Especially mine.

Anything I have ever wanted to do with a computer, I can now safely do from the comfort of my Macintosh. In the past, I may have waited for it to be made available first. But now, at least for me, it is all here.

I'll bet you'd say the same thing about your white box PC.

Gamers don't buy Macs. Now they can.
