Hi Clappy! Good to hear from you. Ya know, interesting you ask for a critter report. Just last night I was thinking about a critter report because we've got a couple of things going on.

We're worried about Momma blue bird. Only one egg of the five have hatched. That was a few days ago so we're concerned the other eggs are not going to make it. That's happened in previous years but with only one egg not hatching.

On a sad note, one of our family pets is sick and not doing well. It's one of our cats that's been with us many years. He's 21 years old. He's having a very hard time and may not make it through the weekend. He's sprung back before but it sure doesn't look good this time.

Last night, I got out the family pet cemetery plot. I've got a drawing of where we have buried our pets over the years. I've mentioned here before that out in front of our house, off to the side close to the house, under a huge tree, we have a pet cemetery. There are 11 graves out there now. I was picking out the spot where we will bury Scooter. Sad.

I've shed a tear over each of those 11 graves and I'll do again when we bury Scooter.

The Coon family is fine. The babies from winter are growing like weeds. Momma Coon still comes to the door every night. She looks in to get our attention to let us know she's ready for food. She'll wait at the door and I'll giver her a treat before walking out with the trays of food. The numbers have slacked off a little bit but we still go through 55 pounds of crunchy dog food every 3 days and bags of vanilla wafers and peanut butter.

Mrs. RR has been feeding the deer out front. We turn the flood lights on every night so we can see them. Last night I was out back and looked around the corner and there were five deer eating. I noticed something smaller moving beside the deer and it was a fox. We've seen him around here before but not often. Big fluffy tail. I thought it was odd to see a fox eating with the deer.

And then there is the Possum family. Baby Possum loves the bird feeder on the deck. We'll look out there at night and he'll be sittin' in it eating the seed. I'll go out and throw some more food in the feeder and he'll just sit there and look at me.

It's not uncommon to have both the Coon family and the Possum family all out there together eating out of the same pans at the same time. Community feeding.

I'm not sure if I mentioned that we have a floppy-eared rabbit that lives in the house now. Yep. It belonged to number one son but we ended up with him at our place. He's got a big cage in the family room but Mrs. RR will let him run around the house at times. He's real good buddies with one of the cats. It's like they're in love. Funny to watch them. The other night the rabbit was laying in the floor in the family room up against one of our big dogs that he's also buddies with. Both were sleeping. We should have gotten a picture of that.

OK, that's the critter report, Clappy. Thanks for asking.
