Tom Friedman today in NYT

First of all from me. Neocons hold your heads high.
Now TF

1. War was not for oil, it was for democracy. It was doable and Friedman still hold some hope which diminished with each column. Like me, he is a cockeyed optimisit about things and folks like us get into trouble for holding on too long.
2. He blames rummy for war on the cheap--he refers to it almost as neoconism on the cheap. He said rummy was more interested in streamlining the military than any overriding neocon ideals and that cheney and bush followed him blindly.

It is beyond belief to me that in 2006, rummy is still at dod. Whatever affection i had for this president which was largely a result of his leadership right after 9/11 is now gone. He has used up any political capital that he had with me. I wish we had a parliamentary system and could have a vote of no confidence and get on with choosing new leaders. This is like LBJ in 63 but with three long years to go.
At this point my dream is that cheney goes the way of agnew and bush does a nixon and we wind up with someone better than Gerry Ford but at least someone with Fords integrity. Is he available? But before the rt wing kool aiders attack me, I am not comparing cheney to agnew or bush to nixon. Agnew was a crook and nixon broke the law. I almost wish that it was that simple this time so what i dreampt up last night could come to pass. Because this time we have three years of left of lame ducks and cheney shooting at them. And we are at war to boot and likely to face enormous challenges during this period with a president who suddenly has no gravitas and few who will follow him.

Prove Cheney has handed over his options to charity.
And even if he did it now, it's only because he got busted lying about giving up all ties to HAL. Cheney is just plain corrupt. He doesn't give a damn about laws or ethics. Just whatever he can get away with.
