I agree. Every day when I worked in the Federal Building in Juneau, my lunch and shoes were x-rayed and I went through a metal detector. The guards knew me and everybody else in the building, but they still made us do it. Nobody argued. Well, that's not exactly true. One time a colleague (who in a different era had been my boss down in Oregon) came back from the field with a bear rifle. The guard objected, and this colleague, being the aggressive type that he is, buffaloed the poor guard into letting him store the rifle in the building. The next day that guard lost his job.
