what's in a name ?

You're talking to the wrong person! I believe that words matter.

"Terrorist" doesn't have to be a value judgment. It simply means someone who uses terror as a tactic. A person may be both a terrorist *and* a freedom fighter. I could point to Colonial American history, where French, English, and Indians all used terror as a military tactic. Fast forward to the Israelis trying to get the British to leave Palestine.

Similarly, "Insurgent" has a definite meaning, someone who is fighting against the status quo government -- which considers itself to be lawfully constituted.
