Remember the dirty trick that never happened? The Nixon boys wanted to get some files out of the Brookings Institution and were trying to figure out a way. Liddy said he could get a firetruck, complete with uniforms, then he'd start a fire in some innocuous place, like under a stairwell. They'd show up in the firetruck, evacuate the building and walk the files out. The plan made some people nervous, so they nixed the idea. Liddy was nuts!

Maureen Dean. found some articles. She vehemently denies those claims, which were very hurtful. Sounds like her detractors were up to their usual dirty tricks. In the 70s, I was a Republican.
