Yes, China has been on the way becoming Latin-Americanized ever since Deng's Open Door policy!!--"China have 236,000 Millionaires in 2003 with an accumulated wealth of USD $969 Billions."vcnoffice.com But, NO, I disagree China should abondon the name of Socialist country. Instead China should correct the wrong direction in its economic reform. And that is exactly what Hu-Wen is doing now. A lot of things Hu JianTao and Wen JiaBao and the Central gov. and 11-Five-Year-Plan doing now are Socialist measures. So Yes, China still has hope all due to Hu-Wen Team. Thanks Heaven that Jiang-Zhu pair has left! I think the plan is by 2010 (or 2015?), China will recruite ALL rural population into Co-op Medical care plan (He Zuo Yi Liao). Some villages already start the trial. China now also launches a "Xin Nong Cun Movement", which stress on sustained, self-sufficient economic development, blah, blah... All these new phenomena are socialist in nature, NOT capitalism. And for a country like China, complete adoption of capitalism could only bring disaster! No doubt about it. The natural resources on this planet simply CANNOT sustain ALL Chinese and Indians to have the same live style like people in the developed countries are having now. And those Capitalist/imperialist countries also do not allow this to happen. Look at the sky rocketing cost of all raw materials, that is the plan to contain China, and prevent China from becoming a country like the US. China has to invent its own model to become modernized, NOT following the West, like those mainstream Western-educated Chinese economists encourage and claim. And China can never become strong by fitting into the cheap division of labor assigned by the West, and by washing dishes for the West. Luckily, the cheap labor shortage going on in China since 2-3 years ago is now getting worse, which has forced many sweatshops moving out of China, or at least thinking of moving out of China.
