Gamers are a cult mentality

Actually you are talking about a culture. And your similes are actually accurate. I've met a few people who are really into games. None of them has had the money to buy and Alienware machine or even the money to build a fast machine. The gamers you speak of are usually uber geeks who have high paying jobs in the tech industry and spend the rest of their time on games.

There just aren't that many of them so really the time you've spent arguing that the gamer factor is HUGE is silly.

I know more people who need dual booters. And a few Mac users who could care less to run windows.

There are a lot more problems that are more important and threaten Apple more. Adobe. OSX on generic Intel machines. How about developers abandoning OSX because you can now boot to XP and run their software?

Boot Camp is not going to change things over night. It is, however, foolish to deny that the Intel/UNIX/OSX/Dual Booter weapon is not a powerful one. It is a train and it's just started to pick up speed.

I came here for an argument. This is simple contradiction.

>Herb> ... The term PC Gamer encompasses a broad spectrum, as anyone who plays games on their home computer will likely include themselves.

>>Don>> ... A gamer lives and breathes computer gaming, playing poker or Sim city on your PC is not a gamer. The gamer community is huge.

I think you underestimate it.

Like long term Apple users, Harley Davidson owners, Grateful Dead fans, Gamers are a cult mentality.

>>>Herb>>> ... The LAN party, custom iron guys are exactly as you describe.

The PC Gamers are more diverse and more numerous.
