There are many silent Republicans who are tired of this imperial presidency. Even the most extreme Republican friend, bordering a neocon, who supports Bush (my President right or wrong), who always sends me email of how great Christian Bush is, is now devoid of any reference to the virtue of Bush's presidency.

These silent majority of Republicans want their country back from the neocons, just as the Democrats want their country back from the Republicans, - which unfortunately have been lumped together as neocons -. These silent people will vote, especially in my district (Duke Cunningham's district). One factor that helps is the permanent absentee ballots which I and my wife have received: No need to go to the poll, just spend 37 cent stamped, and you have done your civic duty.

Happy days will be here again.

I know Republicans as well and, aside from politics, they are pretty nice people. What I find interesting is the combination of religious righteousness, warmongering violence, corruption and incompetence that comes together in the rightwing.

There are so many things in the rightwing that make absolutely no sense. They spend so much time claiming the moral high ground yet Republicans are always so corrupt. I would think that they're so full of competing ideas they wouldn't be able to walk upright.
