One thing is clear, no other currency but gold has survived in decent shape over the long haul simply because it is not something that can be created on a whim and at little cost. IMO the dollar will only be defended as long as politicians jobs are relatively secure otherwise it will be quickly sacrificed. Let's get real when Senators and the Treasury Secretary are asking for China to revalue they are clearly trying to devalue the dollar. I don't know what is so difficult to understand about that. These actions speak a whole lot louder than words.
