Hmm, let's see. After the Revolutionary War, we had the Articles of Confederation. While things didn't really work out, we didn't have suicide vests and carriage bombs. Then we had a constitutional convention and the Constitution. Now true, we did have the Civil War, but I don't think that was something that grew out of the upheaval as we transitioned from a monarchy to democracy...
