so I pay taxes to be ignored ? You don't pay enough taxes. Nothing is free. If they started actually analyzing letters, either your taxes or the deficit would have to go up. What would you be willing to pay to have your letter get the attention you think it deserves? Maybe we could charge user fees, maybe a sliding scale from two fifty to a thousand bucks depending on complexity and whether you expect a response... <g> Kumar, I've handled a lot of those letters. Most of them are slapped out with the frequency and mindlessness of so many SI posts. As a taxpayer, I'm not prepared to pay to have them answered. If we want to get our messages across to legislators, the more efficient and effective route is through interest groups, which are privately funded, less expensively operated, qualified to analyze and extract the salient issues, and make more efficient use of the time of those on the public payroll.
