The whole notion of revoking or putting asterisks on records is also ridiculous. Should green asterisks then be placed on records set by the countless amphetamine abusers in the sport's history and white asterisks be put on records prior to the time when the league was finally integrated?

Establish stringent, but realistic, drug policy that is enforceable and enforced through rigorous drug testing.

Forget about what happened in the past. The past is the past. Baseball commissioner made a big mistake by ignoring the issue. Treat that like an umpire making a bad call in a crucial game.

It is all part of the game.

Get over your concerns about Barry Bonds. For some people concerns about Barry Bonds and not Mark McGuire smacks of a black and white thing. Perception becomes reality. Get over it. Let them play ball.

That makes sense to me.

While they're at it, if they're going to use asterisks on records due to steroids, the 1989 World Series title (the Bay Bridge series delayed by the Loma Prieta earthquake) should be stripped from the A's (who had both Canseco and McGwire on the team) and given to my Giants. <G>
