Jim, I never heard that one!..The sociologist-wannabee in me is fascinated by all this fuss and analysis. I truly never thought of Dunkin Donuts coffee as the 'working people's choice!'..I just went about my business purchasing it for its taste[back in the '80s, we had no other choices or at least I didn't know about them] and ease of procuring it while half-asleep and on my way to work. Then when I became a Cantabrigian, indie owned cafes like Algiers, Cafe Pamplona were my secondary living-room. SBUX coming to town was an assault on my decor aesthetic!

Seriously, the laptops should stay home..not the same..I was able to size someone up based on the book they were reading and found myself getting engaged in most interesting conversations..don't happen nearly as much anymore..

The DD I referred to is located on Washington St. between Brighton Center and Soldier's Field Road, across the street from a gas station. I sure hope they haven't taken down the neon-g-

I've never had a terrible coffe at Starbucks, but I've never had a really good one, either.

As for donuts, can't beat these in San Jose (though you need to be there before 7am to get them at their freshest)...
