Iran appears to be a bona fide threat to the region.

These Shiekdoms have amassed gigantic fortunes peddling their oil over the decades.

Ir would seem that they have a local problem to deal with, and the resources.

Or is it now incumbent on the US to further deplete our treasury and our population to protect the House of Saud and Israel even more?

Like Iraq, Iran is not a threat to the US.

To even consider involving ourselves further in that region is asinine.

Having seen what happened to Iraq, the Iran leadership are being quite logical in trying to develop a nuclear deterrent. We saw that MAD worked well during the standoff with the USSR - why shouldn't it work now? If Iraq had possessed nuclear weapons it wouldn't have been invaded (see N. Korea). The truth is that the current regime in the US isn't interested in a balance of power, they want all the power, and they see it as a God-given right.

I wonder when we'll start to see stories about al Qaeda's relationship with Iran.
