... and IMO for Americans to promote hate towards their own President is not a safe or wise thing to do.

That logic certainly didn't apply when Clinton was president.

But I think it's equally dangerous to keep silent when we have a president who doesn't understand that war is an option of last resort.

The economy is a credit card binge. Who pays off the balance though? 3+ trillion in new debt so far and growing fast. Bush is the least conservative fiscal president we have ever had.

>>Allen, I note that you refer to the President of the USA...your President as the " bushie "... I had hoped you were above that.

IMO ALL Presidents, Prime Ministers, Leaders of countries make mistakes, lie, and minipulate and President Bush is no different than any of them and IMO for Americans to promote hate towards their own President is not a safe or wise thing to do.

...

Could you post a credible link as to this information about what clinton did about radical islam? I know he fired off a few cruise missiles into the Afgahan desert but did little else that I am aware of. He did fire cruise missiles at sadam and The Sudan but what did he do against al kida?<<

Lorne -

I referred to the Bush Administration collectively as "Bushies", actually.

In my opinion, the Bush record of lies, propaganda and misrepresentation transcends previous levels by a wide margin. Try reading "The Republican Noise Machine", by David Brock (a former Republican) and "All The President's Spin". by Ben Fritz, et al. It's eye-opening stuff to say the least.

I find it amazing that people on the right say we shouldn't criticize our president, considering how rabidly they spewed hatred at Clinton while he was President, and the fact that so many of them still can't stop bashing Clinton, five years after he left office. I fail to see what's dangerous or unwise about trying to make the general public aware that they are being manipulated and lied to on an unprecedented scale, about very important things.

As for what Clinton did about Al Qaeda, you will note that in my post I said that the Clinton administration developed a plan to deal with Al Qaeda. This plan was put together in the last few months of the administration's tenure. It was then given to the Bush administration. This is well documented, though not widely reported. I first read about it in "Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them," by Al Franken. The man does rigorous research, and his sources are named in the book, but I don't have a copy at hand, so I can't give them to you presently.

Clinton did fire missiles into Afghanistan, in an effort to destroy an Al Quaeda training camp and kill Bin Laden. Unfortunately, since he had to alert the Pakistani government beforehand, it's likely that Bin Laden was tipped off. We do know, at least, that the camp was evacuated a few hours before the strike.

And before you ask why Clinton had to inform Pakistan before doing this, remember that Pakistan has nuclear weapons, and that they have always had a tense relationship with their nuclear neighbor, India. Firing missiles through Pakistani airspace without informing the Pakis first would have been criminally negligent.

To continue supporting Bush, you have to believe the following:

Jesus loves you, and shares your hatred of homosexuals, a clean environment and Hillary Clinton.

Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him, a bad guy when Bush's daddy made war on him, a good guy when Cheney did business with him, and a bad guy when Bush needed the Iraqi oilfields for Halliburton and Exxon's bottomline.

Trade with Cuba is wrong because the country is Communist, but trade with China and Vietnam is vital to a spirit of international harmony.

The United States should get out of the United Nations, and our highest national priority is enforcing U.N. resolutions against Iraq. That's worth over 20,000 US killed and wounded and 2 trillion dollars of deficits.

A woman can't be trusted with decisions about her own body, but multi-national corporations can make decisions affecting all mankind's ability to breathe or drink clean water without regulation.

The best way to improve military morale is to praise the troops in speeches and send them into a quagmire withou8t body armor, while slashing veterans' benefits and combat pay.

If condoms are kept out of schools and teenagers are not educated about sex, then they won't have sex.

A good way to fight terrorism is to belittle our long-time allies, then demand their cooperation and money and blame them when our policy fails.

Providing health care to all Americans is evil socialism, even if it would save us a trillion dollars.

HMOs and insurance companies have the best interests of the public at heart.

Global warming and tobacco's link to cancer are junk science, but creationism should be taught in schools even though not a single scientist agrees with it.

A president lying about an extramarital affair is an impeachable offense, but a president lying to enlist support for a war in which thousands die is solid defense policy.

Government should limit itself to the powers named in the Constitution, which include banning gay marriages and censoring the Internet, but should ignore separation of church and state, checks and balances and civil liberties.

Being a drug addict is a moral failing and a crime, unless you're a conservative radio host. Then it's an illness and you need our prayers for your recovery.

John Kerry or any bona fide war hero who questions Bush is a coward who faked his injuries and shot innocent enemies in the back, but GW Bush who went AWOL from the guard and lied about it is a military hero.
