LBJ must have been a genius after all. He began a process that virtually DESTROYED black America, and turned them into millions of unthinking vote-fabricating robots.

And he called it the WAR ON POVERTY-and got away with it...

Re: "What's the upper limit on LBJ's war on poverty ? (Cost measured against potential gain, don't 'cha know.)"

By that measure, of course, an *utter failure*, as MOST Big Government programs are.

An even BETTER comparison, though, would be LBJ's Vietnam War with Bush's Iraq War.

LBJ, at very LEAST, did not run the nation's deficit up to pay for the war (he paid for it - mostly - in real time with a tax surcharge, although the inflationary pressures built-up for a long time in the economy...)

Bush II, on the other-hand, has stuck the ENTIRE COST of *his war* on the 'nation's credit card --- so for decades to come our children will still be paying off the interest....
