... when you buy a Mac, you'll have to shell out for the full price of XP. ...

That might stop Don from making a Macintel his next purchase. He didn't make more than he wanted from his sale of AAPL. But then again, he should already have XP with SP2. If he wanted a new computer, his biggest decision is the hardware anyway.

However, if you do hear that Mr. D. Green has bought a Macintel, please let me know. I'll borrow money to buy more stock at that point! When COBs start switching, that stock is bound to move like a dog catching a faint wif of WB.

The main thng that works against Apple in that regard is that when you buy a Mac, you'll have to shell out for the full price of XP.

HP, Compaq, etal the price of XP is built and at a substantial discount.

The interesting thing here as someone else pointed out before is that some larger corporations, and government and educational institutions have site licensing for Microsoft products, and for them, the upgrade/downgrade/sidegrade is free.
