For all of Wilson's faults (and he had a few), he never did send us on an offensive military mission. Bush is just using the Wilsonian rhetoric of building "democracy" as the justification for endless war (in oil rich regions of the world). In fact, I find it rather ammusing that the propaganda used in WWI, fighting to make the world safe for democracy, actually lives on today and is still used by our government. The only thing similiar between Wilson and Bush is the propaganda of "democracy" for military justifications has been used by both. It should be noted that wars such as Viet Nam were also justified by the concept of spreading democracy. However, Bush is ultimately guilty of launching the first truly offensive wars in our nation's history and undertaking huge nation building efforts (even after he derided the Democrats in 2000 for misusing our military for nation building). Now it appears that Bush might also be guilty of using nukes in an offensive manner against Iran. Let's hope he has the wisdom not to follow through on that misguided coarse of action. The last thing we need is to set a precedent of using nukes offensively (all for building democracy in the Middle East?).
