Unfortunately the average American is relatively immune to sticker shock when it comes to driving a car.

Cars are much better than back in the 70s when gas lines appeared a couple of times......I have a 1971 Sting Ray which always gives me a jolt, considering the way it inhales fuel. But still I would agree that cars must become much more efficient.

Regardless, we are competing for oil with many countries that weren't in the mix not so many years ago, China and India for example. The price of Crude will most certainly reach levels that will drastically affect everything we buy.

We aren't just talking about cars; oil in some form is used to make, process and/or transport just about everything we consume.

One has to come to the logical conclusion that many wars are fought or will be fought not just with the issues of Human Rights or Democracy as the underlying root issues.
