In that case Intel would have to sell similar computers at higher prices than H-P, which does not make sense.

So obviously, regardless of anecdotal impression, Intel's chips are price competitive with AMD. Otherwise, Intel would not be the #1 revenue leader in PC's.

I see no reason to doubt the statement that if Intel reduces prices to Dell, that AMD will have to make similar reductions to H-P. And if AMD is reluctant to go into loss just to grab more share, then the share shift will stabilize or reverse.
