Senile Sy Hersh is playing politics.

He is quoted today as backing off his Nuclear option for Iran. He now claims it was discussed, but rejected.

The only evidence of any consideration of nuclear weapon use against Iran comes from Seymour Hersh. Not the best endorsement for such a thing, IMO.

I wouldn't be too surprised to learn that the nuclear option was "kept on the table" by some in the Bush administration in the knowledge that it would be leaked to Hersh or one of his ilk. Message: So you wanna play crazy, Ahmedinijad? Two can play at that game! You think you're dealing with a wimp who is afraid to use force? That's what Saddam thought! You think you can save yourself by keeping Iraq in chaos? You're betting on a losing hand there. Doesn't Bush like to say, if a problem is intractable, enlarge it?
