Good you are able to deal with both sides of this issue in an unbiased way.

Not many are.

This may collect you the reward of an Harry Bayer ignore, though.

There IS a problem with global warming... it stopped in 1998
By Bob Carter
(Filed: 09/04/2006)

For many years now, human-caused climate change has been viewed as a large and urgent problem. In truth, however, the biggest part of the problem is neither environmental nor scientific, but a self-created political fiasco. Consider the simple fact, drawn from the official temperature records of the Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia, that for the years 1998-2005 global average temperature did not increase (there was actually a slight decrease, though not at a rate that differs significantly from zero).
Yes, you did read that right. And also, yes, this eight-year period of temperature stasis did coincide with society's continued power station and SUV-inspired pumping of yet more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

Let's see........global temps. are rising but not every year; in fact a few years are skipped from time to time. Global temps were rising in the early part of the 20th century but then plateau'd for a while only to start rising again.

Throughout this time, CO2 has been rising too...not every year but more years than not:

powerpoints.wri.org

.......and now exeed the parameters that have existed for millions of years.

And the author's takeaway and yours is that the talk of global warming is much to do about nothing.

Okay. Now let's see why the global warming alarmists were needlessly [in your opinion] raising the red flag. Was it to demand that all factories shut down immediately? No. Was it to require that cars only be driven on alternate days? No. Was it to demand that people give up their cars completely? No. Was it to embark on the building of huge rocket ships to take the human race to another planet where global warming is not a problem? No. Was it to propose killing off half the earth's population? No.

What the global warming experts are asking is that some of the world's worst polluters ie the US of A.....take stronger steps to cut back on CO2 emissions in the hope of reversing the rising temps which are melting the ice at the Poles.

Now, doing that not only might stop the rise of global temps but would improve the quality of the air which I think most people believe is a good thing. I said most........so that there is plenty of room for you to disagree.

The reaction: the frigging nutcases who are minor minds [that would be you] are going off again just like they did when people were telling them that Iraq was out of control.......which it was and still is.

Why don't you get a brain and then an education.......and then maybe could have a reasonable discussion re. global warming.

In response to these facts, a global warming devotee will chuckle and say "how silly to judge climate change over such a short period".

and they would have a good point but as you point out...

Yet in the next breath, the same person will assure you that the 28-year-long period of warming which occurred between 1970 and 1998 constitutes a dangerous (and man-made) warming.

I think too many people on both sides in this debate act like they have it all figured out and anyone who disagrees with them is ignorant, foolish, and/or a dupe.
