Perhaps they will quote James Madison to you, "If tyranny and oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy." Or something similar. There's a strong isolationist tendency in America that Presidents have overcome with great difficulty. Bush got free reign in Afghanistan and he got free reign in Iraq. I don't think Iran is in the cards. Not even for Israel. ("Free reign" should be "free rein". But this is one of those typos that are actually Freudian slips.)
