The "I declassified the documents" story is just an amazing, bald-faced attempt to rewrite history. If he declassified the documents, I have several questions, which I imagine the Press will be asking, too:

Why weren't the documents released to the general public, instead of being leaked to one reporter?

Why, if the documents had been declassified, did Bush say that he would find out if anyone in his administration had had anything to do with leaking information contained within them, and would fire that person? (Of course, he later changed that tune to say he would fire anyone who had actually committed a crime.)

Why did he then stand idly by while the investigation went forward?

What's happened is that Bush has been caught in a huge, transparent lie about an impeachable offense, and now he's trying to make it all go away with a ridiculous, cock and bull story.

It's appalling.
