Iran: Tehran Dismisses Reports U.S. Is Considering Air Attacks

The United States has downplayed reports that President George W. Bush's administration is studying options for a military strike on Iran's nuclear sites and said that it is conducting "normal defense and intelligence planning." British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw on April 9 said any notion that Washington would use tactical nuclear weapons against Iran is "completely nuts." That claim was made in an article in the U.S. weekly "New Yorker" by investigative journalist Seymour Hersh. "The Washington Post" also reported on April 9 that the United States is studying military-strike options for Iran. Tehran has dismissed the reports and said Washington is waging a psychological war.
