120 FORMER ISRAELI, PALESTINIAN COMBATANTS START PEACE DRIVE

REUTERS - After a year of meeting in secret, 120 former Israel Defense
Forces combat soldiers and Palestinian militants unveiled a unique peace
group on Monday, hopeful their union will spur dialogue and end
bloodshed. Formation of the "Combatants for Peace" is a rare sign of
comradeship at a time when separation increasingly characterizes
relations between Israelis and Palestinians. . .

In a school yard in the Palestinian town of Anata north of Jerusalem,
former enemies exchanged handshakes and hugs as they inaugurated what
they called the first joint group of its type. . . The former combatants
have been meeting for a year in different towns around Jerusalem after
founders on both sides decided to do something to try to foster peace.

But they kept the group's existence secret to first build trust at
gatherings where emotions often spilled over as both sides told stories
of what they had done in the conflict. . .

The group aims to put pressure on both governments to talk peace, halt
violence and establish a Palestinian state. They plan to visit Israeli
and Palestinian schools and universities and set up joint media teams to
influence public opinion.

Many years ago, when I had totally screwed things up I cursed Him for not helping me. I guess a person has to hit the bottom before they are low enough to reach out in sincerity. At the time I thought what the hell and swallowed a bottle of pain pills. My little son saw it and called his mom who then called an ambulance. Guess it wasn't my time. Terrible thing for a little kid to see though.

We always pay for our wrongs. I have been making amends to myself and others for many years. But this is nothing for me to admit. I have no fear of losing my social standing by telling anything about me. That is one of the things that keeps me from thinking I am better than others. I used to say, as an excuse, when I saw someone worse than me, "At least I haven't done that yet!" I was quickly reminded that if I kept doing what I was doing that yet meant "you are eligible too."

Maybe it's just a matter of asking Him to prove Himself. You never know, He might do it! You don't have too swallow the whole kit and kaboodle you know!
