I mostly agree with you, but I do consider Josh Marshall to be a left wing hack; I mostly refrain from posting comments from his right wing counterparts in deference to the spirit of the thread. Since I am not the moderator, who is absent, I simply expressed an opinion which John is free to ignore. All civil as can be, not even John complained.

I'm sure Dale will let us know when he comes back whether or not attacking other people's article authors as "ultimate partisan hacks" is acceptable behavior, or not. Since it is not the kind of thing that would make people comfortable posting articles, I'd be willing to bet it's not the sort of thing that belongs here- but that's just my guess.

Suma, On your comments about c2's comments about my Josh Marshall posting. As you might guess, I ignore a great many c2 posts, particularly the ones which seem to me to be intentionally inflammatory. I try only to engage his substantive points. I see, later in the thread, that he considers my failure to comment an indication that I don't mind. It's the opposite. As for posting Josh Marshall's blog postings, the ones I choose to post are well within the bounds of the many editorial pieces the rest of us post. Marshall, himself, is a Democratic centrist on the left of the centrist group. But like many of that ilk, has been driven a bit further left by the catastrophe that is the Bush presidency. I've refrained, in general, from posting from the kinds of places that would parallel The National Review, The Weekly Standard, and further right. Not because I think Dale would object but because the ratio of substantive argument to ideological talk is much too low in either. While the left side of the political spectrum sponsors ideological talk I tend to agree with, much of it doesn't move an argument forward. I think it's also important to remember that the right, under the Bush watch, has engaged in a conscious and deliberate political effort to label any views that are even slightly to their left, as "leftish," "hackish", etc. I see no reason to take such attempts seriously.
