ms sandintoes [the cleverest alias on SI]

I don't know

I'm not a computer or net tech person

nor am I an investigator or familiar with law enforcement techniques

but the government has a slew of exactly those type of people and that alone is a powerful tool

I knew a CIA guy once who was involved in exactly what we are talking about, identifying terrorists - he worked in it about 20 years ago - he told me the internet was a monster tool for that type of work

actually, he found a long lost foreign friend [20 years lost] for me in about 20 minutes

she was shocked to hear from me and flew up that christmas to visit

back to the point - I think we should use all the tools and means of identifying terrorists and pedophiles available, without stepping on our rights to privacy - just like us, the government must work within the framework of the bill of rights

to say we can stretch this right or that one for this particular instance or that one because it is important opens a pandora's box - pushing and pecking on fundamental rights will eventually weaken them

I personally think the Bill Of Rights is our most important document - it's what made and makes this country strong and unique among other nations

and the right to an expectation of privacy is among them
