Yes I know. However it actually relates quite neatly right back the the resolution of WWI and division of the Ottoman empire... The European victors (mostly Brittain is to blame, that Lloyd George... he was such a kidder) made a huge mess of things... not different than the many ridiculous countries that were set up in Africa post colonisation... with no regard (or little ) to indigenous folks natural boundaries, cultural differences etc... but focused on European landowners and other business's interests... (of course they weren't supposed to be there anyway... but that's people for ya) We can't really blame the US for starting the middle east mess... Europeans did that... but the US largely took over the helm..

As to nukes and Iran... well the CIA overthrew the Shah of Iran.. and installed Shah Reza their lackey... He signed the agreement of non proliferation... Interestingly Mr. Ford (Gerry) gave Iran the right to basically go all the way and develop weapons grade fuel.. It's all there in the history books no one seems to remember.. So maybe Iran just wants to opt out of something that was not an option but actually dictated vicariously to them by the US through the then shah. There is an option for opting out with three months notice if you feel your country is under threat... Being voted into the Axis of Evil by the one vote, one man, one person electorate system that has God on its side (That would be Mr. Bush) might have made them nervous ? Heck Nato members do not even feel it required to opt out... If you are at war and have them ... Use them... You can justify it in the end... Funny that a lot of original NATO folks have the bomb :O)

Yes it's hard to be cute and cuddly about this stuff... Frankly in the end it is pretty scary with a religion influencing politics to the extent Christianity once did...

Maybe Lennon had it right afterall in Imagine
