And, I was pointing out a time-honoured way for a third party, with something to offer, to keep the peace [give or take a bit] by playing one off against the other.

Sorry Maurice.. you can sugar coat your words all you want.. but "playing off" one Islamo-Fascist "flavor" against another (shia vs sunni) is merely another way of saying "let's get them to kill one another off"...

It's very similar to our policy during the Iran-Iraq war.. We really didn't care if both parties bled each other to death...

The danger in such an approach is that possibly, just possibly, they both will get wise to it, and form an alliance of combined interests and seek to attack us.

This might be a satisfactory "last stand" approach with regard to our FP in the region, but I much prefer pursuing the energizing of the moderate and modernist Islamist portions of Muslim society..

If you just looked at the innocent and friendly eyes of the average Iraqi child, and realized that if you didn't do something, those eyes would grow up and change to hatred and intolerance, you'd understand what I mean...

I want to see as little blood as necessary, always understanding that if we don't succeed, possibly millions of these children will only grow old enough to die in an ideological conflagration that we are in a position of pre-empting NOW, if we have the resolve.
