"America's churches still largely segregated by race"

There is a difference between "don't" and "rarely". Are churches largely segregated? It depends on the area, but very often the answer is yes. Primarily because the area is segregated. When neighborhoods are largely integrated, there are more integrated churches. Another factor, as alluded to in the article, is that there are racial differences in religion. Not many blacks are Jewish, for example. Or Asians for that matter. Many blacks are Southern Baptist or Methodist. Episcopalians tend to be white. As the Pentecost. Catholics tend to be more, well, catholic.
