the product overall has had a bad reputation, it is getting better. I am talking about buying an annuity with a lump sum ...should have made that clear...sorry.

Have a good friend who just bought a lump sum annuity,...he is insisting he is guaranteed a 7% return each and every year from Morgan Stanley. I spoke to Fidelity,...they said no way.

Have read about some companies making this type of promise and getting in trouble. Lawyers are beginning to advertise on TV looking for people who were promised great returns and then screwed over.

BTW< the friend is an accountant.
